The Unaccepted Slavery Apology

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

By LARRY WILKE

2008-08-07

I received a comment from my friend Richard who said that he was “sick to death of Congress apologizing for things that happened generations ago” and that he hopes to see a better world for his grandchildren.  The only way to ensure the likelihood of the former coming to fruition would be to forcibly medicate our spineless office holders in the hopes of eliminating “obsequious grandstanding” as a Pavlovian political reflex.  In the interim, lets take a look at this “apology” thing and let us try to bring it into the world of the rational, and let’s take a peek into a few things that Congress should really apologize for.

Are You an Authentic White?

Are
you an authentic white person? For the answer to that, we need to go to the
current authentic black community. They are the ones who define who is and who
is not an authentic member of their race.

A Conversation with Deborah Simpson, Inspirational Author

Friday, March 21st, 2008

An ALL RIGHT MAGAZINE Exclusive Interview

2008-03-21

ALL RIGHT MAGAZINE: Your work includes poetry
and prose targeted at spirituality and inspiration. What is it about life today
that makes these things more necessary than ever? Describe your writing and its
purpose.

DEBORAH SIMPSON:
Life today is wholly unbalanced. The overall quality of life
is detrimentally diminishing into disproportionate levels, causing the absolute
fundamentals of life to be set aside to the point of extinction. Essentials
such as love, respect, basic morality, civil liberties and freedoms are slowly
being eradicated.

There are many different factors plaguing us today causing utter hopelessness
within the hearts of the populace. The cost of living at disproportionate
levels, the educational system, the enacting of laws for only political gain
along with the frivolousness of attempting to remove God from our existence are
but mere examples of the issues invading our familial homes. Depression is on
the rise, abuse has risen above incalculable breadth, defeat has replaced
perseverance and despair has given rise to the fall of general amity.

With the pace of the world today, it is no wonder why people are feeling angry,
alone and desperate. It is no wonder why people are questioning their very own
subsistence and that of God, the very foundation upon which this country was
built.

Now, more than ever, people need reassurance, understanding and hope. My verse
reflects the core of the entire human experience while my inspirational
renderings broaden spiritual awareness. I do not write emotionally, but rather
deliberately, thereby leaving the vitality of interpretation in tact. The
purpose of my writing is to deliver the knowledge that we all walk together,
and to provide the necessary avenue for introspection delivering personal
enlightenment, empowerment and fortification thereby enriching internal
fulfillment.

The Maximum Contribution

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

ALL RIGHT MAGAZINE Exclusive Interview
with RICK ROBINSON

2008-01-12

ALL RIGHT MAGAZINE: More than anything, The Maximum Contribution seems to be
about the great moral dilemma that all politicians face — the money or the
principles, and the choice is complicated by the fact that implementing ideals
takes money. How does this unfold in your book? How have you seen it unfold in
your real life political career?

RICK ROBINSON: In my book, I’ve tried to capture the feel of a real campaign.
And, it’s not a real campaign without money.

There’s a real conflict that takes place when every candidate runs for the
first time. The first time out, a candidate’s wild idealism is reeled in when
he or she realizes that without a ton of campaign cash to get his or her
message to voters, the campaign is sunk. I try to present money as neither good
nor bad, but a reality of politics. In defining that reality, I try to explain
why.

In The Maximum Contribution, a
small-town Kentucky councilman has the chance of a lifetime when his
political mentor dies in office, and he becomes the Republican’s special
election nominee for the United States House of Representatives. With Washington’s premiere campaign consultants at the helm, the
candidate is riding a well-oiled political machine to Election Day success. His
victory is in sight when he stumbles upon an issue that places him in the
cross-hairs of power-hungry politicians, corrupt lobbyists, gun-running union
officials and an on-going FBI sting operation.
