DAYTONA BEACH – In what may be the first movement of its kind in the nation, a coalition of grass-roots liberty groups is holding a rally on Sunday outside the Florida Sheriffs Association convention in Daytona Beach. Their goal is to encourage sheriffs to enforce the Constitution and stop the Transportation Security Administration from warrantless and random searches at airport checkpoints.

According to organizers, the objective of the rally is not to protest, but rather to encourage sheriffs to uphold the Fourth Amendment, as well as Florida statutes on molestation, as they apply to TSA employees. The rally will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011, outside of the Hilton Oceanfront Resort, 100 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, from 4-7 pm. The assembly is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring signs urging sheriffs to confront the TSA and protect Floridians’ rights.

As Washington obfuscates and distorts America’s economic realities, imagine my surprise to receive an e-mail from my Senator, Bill Nelson, Democrat, Florida, asking me to weigh in on the debt crisis.

In typical egotistical fashion, the illustrious Senator, assumed that his constituents would blindly accept the premise that we should do SOMETHING to prevent this certain catastrophe looming on August 2nd. Really? A catastrophe that Senator Nelson, without question, had a hand in designing. After all, Senator Nelson, Democrat, Florida, is a dyed-in-the-wool Liberal.

So, I thought that readers might get a chuckle (or perhaps shed a tear) out of my response to Senator Nelson.

Some Things Never "Change"

As the “debate” towards the raising of the Obama debt ceiling laughingly “rages” on, the “behind the scenes” numbers are beginning to reveal the unfortunate reality that those on the right will bend. As always, this ISN’T about what Obama and the liberals say that it is. Those who look to the liberals for sustenance, those with eyes wide shut are in the bag. The “independents” had better keep their eyes open, this “fight” is for your “affections” from Obama’s perverted point of view.

On the face of things, this entire scenario HAS to be a lose/lose situation for Obama. Two years of unencumbered access to the kitty, six years of liberal majorities in both Houses and his “historic” record since January of 2009 SHOULD spell an easy victory for both America and capitalism in November of 2012. Period, end of story. But the “polls” are telling a different tale and the “polls” drive the votes of politicians, not the will of their constituents.

Both sides are finding their farthest “extremes” wailing for their heroes to resume their particular provenance’s. Bolshevik Bernie Sanders says that “it would be a good idea if Obama faced some primary opposition.” Whatever. What dopey Bernie doesn’t understand is the debt ceiling IS NOT what is at stake. Boehner has the Tea Party nipping at his heels and the idea of a “firm” stand on this gets wobblier by the day due to the information gleaned from these “polls” and the fact that the “impartial media” are headlining these “polls” at the top and bottom of every news hour.

Ah, that insidiously evil apple lobby is at again.

Just when you thought it was safe to eat out again there goes McDonalds’ caving into the pressures of corporate “Big Apple.” McDonald’s restaurants have announced they will reduce the serving of French fries in Happy Meals to half of its current size. In its place children will be forced… I mean offered an order of apple slices or other bland, nutritional choices instead.

Ray Kroc must be turning over in his grave.

The change, to begin in early 2012, results in a 20 percent reduction in calories, fat and sodium in the Happy Meal and is being marketed as McDonalds working to curb the growing phenomena of fat American kids. The corporate shills at the golden arches claim they are responding to customer requests for healthier kid’s meals. Yet, while apples are currently available as choices for those who order Happy Meals, 89 percent of their customers don’t choose the current option of apples over fries.

Apples over fries indeed.

What’s next?

Ronald McDonald is forced to put on a brown uniform and hold a copy of Mao’s Red Book?

Do they change the name of Happy Meals to Fair Nutritional Balance Meals?

The daily news cycle shifts from deadly bombings in Norway to union organizers manhandling people over teacher’s benefits in the U.S., and if you wait long enough it will shift yet again to something else we can hardly believe.

At the end of the local news broadcast pretty much throughout the country a smiling newswoman may tell us of the rescue of a cat or some kid who won a medal for achievements in his science fair. All’s well that ends well and we’re off to bed.

What is important? Who knows; but we do know that everything is very urgent. Little wonder that when speaking of the last days near the end of time as we know it, the apostle Luke wrote the following.

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” (Luke 21: 25, 26)

It is not straining credulity to proclaim that the land of the free and the home of the brave is, fast becoming the land of heart failure and the home of the information slave. It not only presses against our ability to assimilate it all, but it wearies the strongest people, who may resort to reclusiveness and anti-social behaviors as a reasonable respite from it all.

Everyone is clamoring, debating and speculating if Barack Obama will run again (a foregone) for re-election and what his chances are if he does. With the most dismal economic policy in U.S. history to his credit, and a social agenda that looks like a liberal fiasco dream nightmare, some liberals and most middle of the road and conservative Americans are still wondering why anyone voted for him in the first place.

As of July 26, 2011 it has been 820 days since the United States Senate last passed a budget. 620 days was controlled by a Democratic Congress and Senate..

Now with Republican controlled Congress is making every effort to pass a budget that curbs spending, reduce the deficit and doesn’t rise taxes.

The Democrats running around like “chicken little” with cries of if we don’t get our way the sky will fall. It’s either cut, cap and a balanced budget with no new taxes now , not in ten years or the sky can fall on the democrats head.

Congressional Republicans, Remember The Alamo!

Some will say, “Lloyd, if your purpose is to inspire Republicans to stand strong in the debt ceiling debate, why on earth would you choose the battle at the Alamo which the good guys, the Texans, lost?” The battle at the Alamo is the birthplace of Texas liberty. Approximately 250 Texans died fighting for their freedom against the 1500 man Mexican army. The Texans held the Mexicans at bay for 12 days before being massacred on the 13th day.What I find so inspiring about the battle is the Texans knew they were going to die. And yet, they knew the time had come to draw a line in the sand taking a stand for freedom.With Bill O’Reilly leading the charge, pundits and Washington elites advise Republicans to surrender to Obama’s irresponsible desire to raise the debt ceiling and raise taxes. These smartest guys in the room say, “Obama has the polls and the media on his side. So, why go down in defeat.”Well I say, the Republicans must not allow fear, skewed polls and an ill-informed public to prevent them from doing what is best for America. The time has come for Republicans to draw a line in the sand; take a stand by fighting the tyranny of out of control, self serving vote manufacturing and insane government spending.Thank God we have tea party freshmen who are standing on principle and saying “no” to bankrupting the future of generations.Here is how deep in the hole we are. Let’s suppose congress ceased all spending today and began making payments of 100 million dollars per day on our national debt. It would take us 389 years to pay off our national debt. Can you see how adding to our debt would be insane?

And yet, O’Reilly and company advise the Republicans to compromise to save themselves. Such behavior is not character driven leadership. To the Republicans, I say, “Remember the Alamo! Take a stand for freedom!”Unlike the Texans, I do not believe the Republicans will be massacred.
