By MELISSA WHITTINGTON

Living in America, did you ever think you’d experience the invasive government, big brother tactics that we to see in movies of Nazi Germany, in which uniformed officers ask, “Where are your papers?”

Well, that is exactly what your government is currently proposing, supported by Lindsay Graham (R-SC), the Republican Senator who also supports closing Guantanamo, moving terrorists to American soil, and Cap and Tax legislation, a tri-fecta of ridiculousness one has come to expect from a RINO REPUBLICAN.

Yes, it’s true. Lindsay Graham is working with Chuck Schumer (D-NY) (our first clue it’s a bad idea) to create amnesty legislation for the 10-15 million illegals currently in our country. The Obama Administration has vowed to count as many illegals as possible during the 2010 census, and has created Spanish-only marketing materials to specifically target them, so that they can receive representation in the House of Representatives. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. ILLEGAL ALIENS WILL RECEIVE A VOTE IN OUR GOVERNMENT.

And it is further outrageous that our government would treat the actual citizens like criminals. These national ID cards would require your personal information stored on a computer chip. This would include, at a minimum, YOUR FINGERPRINTS. Fourth Amendment anyone?

Currently, the ObamaCare plans passed through the House and Senate include national health insurance ID cards. These cards would be required to be tied to your personal financial accounts and information to allow for direct debit of your co-pays and deductibles immediately upon presentation at a doctor’s office, and to directly tie your benefits and the allowed procedures to your care. There has also been talk of keeping your medical records on these cards. And since the federal government has already started the process of keeping every American’s medical records in a single storage house in Washington DC, for viewing by any medical professional in the country for “research” purposes (read comparative effectiveness research), nothing will be private. And keep in mind that this is MANDATORY. You will NOT be allowed to opt out of this, and keep your medical records private under ObamaCare.

Now, since every American citizen will be required to obtain health insurance at the demand of the federal government, and every person will be required to connect their tax returns and financial information to their mandated, government controlled health insurance, add in a 2010 census form that rivals the invasion of privacy experienced by teenagers at the hands of parents, coupling that with a national ID card in order to obtain a JOB, and we’re looking at the single largest invasion of privacy of every law abiding American citizen. And the ability of the federal government to track your every move in society.

And we all know how these power grabs of liberty end up: THEY ONLY GROW, GROW, GROW. Pretty soon these national ID cards will be required for voting. They will be used as ATM cards. They will be your national driver’s license. You will no longer be able to travel between the states of the U.S. without your national ID card, to be produced on demand.

And do we REALLY think the criminals, who have been able to skirt Federal Authorities (minus Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio) for the past 50 years, won’t find a way around this? All the while the law-abiding citizens of the United States are tagged and tracked like animals. And let’s not even CONSIDER what happens when there’s a COMPUTER GLITCH! Think the DMV on a bad day, and THAT’s where you’ll be going to try and solve a mere “mix-up” with your data………

Those Law and Order shows in which warrants are required to obtain your blood type or finger prints will be things of the past. ALL OF THAT INFORMATION WILL ALREADY BE IN THE HANDS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

But trust them when they tell you that the Patriot Act will be used to keep it confidential.

Then add to the misgivings and COMPLETE LACK OF TRUST IN OUR GOVERNMENT the fact that the current system the federal government maintains, E-Verify, IS INACCURATE 54% OF THE TIME. Can you imagine how easy it would be to clear up your personal information with the Federal Government?

And before we get mired down in “Hey, you’re just a conspiracy theorist,” remember when the Clintons were slapped on the wrist for obtaining, perusing and holding on to FBI files of American citizens that they had no right to review?

After watching the recent events that showcase the corruption in Washington, a national ID card tied to my personal information is the LAST thing I want my government pursuing. And for Lindsay Graham to be complicit in this shows exactly where he needs to be: THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE.

Our federal government has systematically been eroding our personal liberties and freedoms for far too long. Our Constitution does not give them this authority. What happened to states’ rights? We need to take a stand. Call your Representatives and Senators today. Explain this issue to your friends and neighbors. We need to stop this nonsensicality NOW.

By LARRY WILKE

Hearts were all aflutter in the state of Pennsylvania as the “Health Scare Rickety Road Show” finally skulked out of Washington and ambled out to where the victims of the “plan” live. Fear not as this was a sufficiently scrubbed get-together, not unlike the Obama campaign events where women in burkas were hustled off of the stage before the flashbulbs popped. Obama showed up at Arcadia University (Who? Where?) after thirteen months of failing to convince his own party that this is a really great “plan.” Nice of him to finally get out of the House. And the Senate too for that matter.

The Associated Press was all agog over the humorous homilies being read from totalitarian teleprompters by the sanguine socialist. Yahoo news (Obama pitches health plan in spirited appearance) called the fascist freak show a “spirited, shirt sleeved appeal” and they said that it “stirred memories of his campaign for the White House.” No this wasn’t a “town hall” type of scenario, Obama isn’t in the mood to hear from the multiple millions of people who fervently disagree with his Democratic Death Panels. The only thing being “stirred” here was the Bolshevik bouillabaisse of buncombe and blather. Obama was talking to “students” who have never paid any taxes and only stand to benefit from this “plan.” That was about as brave a maneuver as Oprah talking to a group of fellow fatties about Ring Dings, Yodels and Ho-Ho’s.

Apparently according to the article, “legislation that once seemed on the cusp of passage, only to run into difficulty when Senate Republicans gained the seat.” I suppose that having Al Franken in the Senate hasn’t paid any dividends as the liberals have stumbled all over themselves for over a year only to have the “next convenient excuse” for failure fall into their laps.

The liberals, once firm believers in the “argumentative minimalism” (i.e. Racist!) have now decide to elongate their lies once again. It is either the “two-step approach,” (the SIDE-STEP approach is more like it.) or it’s “rules denying Republicans the ability to demand a 60-vote majority.” These are polysyllabic versions of “reconciliation,” which has apparently become a liberal media curse word. The impartial media has no qualms with talking of “filibusters” or “Republican stalling-tactics” this time around. “Reconciliation” is yet another “political maneuver” that just happens to be being utilized by the liberals today, so all bets are off.

Obama was “appealing” for “passage of long-stalled health care changes.” This “long stall” is the result of the liberals being incapable of deciding just exactly how much each of their votes will cost the taxpayers. People like Lincoln, Landrieu and Nelson at least managed to get their payoffs lined out; the rest of the liberals were apparently playing hard to get. Maybe the “long stall” was due to Pelosi and her fetid friends carefully “draining the swamp” of corruption in Washington, you know, the most “honest and open Congress in history.”

Obama in taking a page from the progressive play book decided to cast capitalists as the “problem,” not unlike his juvenile attacks upon “corporate America” or the “Wall Street interests.” Now the “problem” is the insurance companies; they are an “obstacle.” “They continue to ration care on the basis of who’s sick and who’s healthy.” Unlike the liberal’s great “plan” where all of the leftist leeches will be clogging every emergency room within sight with every hangnail and tummy ache imaginable since the middle class will be forced to pay for it.

The funny thing is that under Obama’s “plan” of Marxist Medicine, “ration care on the basis of who’s sick and who’s healthy” is exactly what they are going to do, and please keep in mind that they are going to do it as efficiently as they have handled the “stimulus.” It will be done as effectively as their “bailouts.” Socialized medicine is all about “rationing,” and there will be no choice but to “ration” health care when Obama drops “10-30 million uninsured,” an assemblage of ILLEGALS, mendicants and loafers, into the mix. Obama’s proposal “would give the government the right to limit excessive premium increases.” Correction: Obama’s proposal would give the government the right to limit EVERYTHING, and they will have to.

Obama fired away at “Republican critics” as well. “You had 10 years. What happened? What were you doing?” The Obama “taunts” are as effective as any Obama “promise” as the progressive projection can’t be hidden between the licentious liberalism. The LOGICAL question to ask is “Why, with an unstoppable ‘supermajority’ for over ten months couldn’t you accomplish this ‘important’ task?” As well, why not ask, “When you were cooling your heels in Washington as the Senator from Illinois and bravely voting ‘present’ on so many occasions, why didn’t you introduce a bill or two addressing this ‘number one priority?’”

The article said that “he taunted members of a party that held the White House for eight years and control of Congress for a dozen.” Again, the impartial media chose to ignore the relevant questions. “Why couldn’t a Democratic majority in BOTH Houses since 2006 manage to address the ‘epidemic’ of health care?” The answer to that query might very well be, “Maybe they were afraid to try again since the last liberal who tried to “overhaul” health care with the ‘help’ of his wife was then soundly trounced at the very next midterm election.” Remember, the liberals are at least TWICE as smart as the conservatives, I will ask yet another poignant question. “Since, according to you, the Republicans had control of Congress for ‘a dozen years’ and couldn’t do it, why couldn’t YOU solve this vexing problem in half the time since you posses twice the cerebral capacity?”

“The outcome could affect every American.” There is no “could” about it; it WILL effect “almost every American” and in a horribly negative way for those attempting vainly to outlast the Obama socialism. ILLEGALS and loafing liberals of every Socialist stripe will of course benefit; however the middle class will be bankrupted, and even the unborn will be further targeted by the Marxist Mengeles and their “plan.” This is what we know about within this nearly 3,000 page pogrom; remember that Pelosi herself said that “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” (Pelosi Remarks at the 2010 Legislative Conference for National Association of Counties 03/09/2010) Transparency? Nonsense.

Never ones to leave well enough alone, “House Democrats have been lobbying to add to the health care bill unrelated legislation overhauling the nation’s student loan programs.” The “government” will “save” “about 87 billion over a decade.” This is as good a “guess” as the ones the Obama shills have been making relative to their shameful “stimulus” tripe and their “jobs saved and created” stupidity. If one looks deeply enough at this alleged “proposal,” one might discover that this is another Democratic “earmark.” Yet another item for Obama to “control” and something that has NOTHING to do with “health care” and allegedly, “earmarks” are yet another of the things that Pelosi wants to allegedly “end.” However, she only wants to “end” them for ONE YEAR.

“‘I’m kind of fired up’, Obama said at the beginning of his remarks, a variation on his oft-stated 2008 refrain, ‘Fired up. Ready to go’.” I’m kind of “fired up” too, but an appropriate “change” is in order for the text. “I’m fired up. Ready to NO.” Obama crooned, “Let’s seize reform, it’s within our grasp.” I like that. Let’s “change” it just a little bit more. “Let’s seize Congress in 2010. It’s within our grasp.”

From The Brussels Journal

By A. MILLAR

David Cameron has made it clear that the Conservative party, of which he is the head, has changed. Win or lose the upcoming election, there is no going back. The Tory “dinosaurs” are out. The party is now “progressive,” “bold” and “radical” – a party of “ideas.”

Yet, its ideas were mostly thought up by Tony Blair’s New Labour party. Issues of importance are off the table:

- In his Spring conference speech on Feb. 28, Cameron failed to mention uncontrolled immigration even though the island nation (smaller then the state of Oregon) is on track to hit 70 million by 2030.

- There was no mention of the damage done to society by political correctness.

- No mention of the European Union, which makes 75-80 percent of laws enacted in Britain.

- And the “bold” and “radical” Cameron did not address the issue of political Islam in Britain – an issue that is hardly out of the news these days.

Only the day before Cameron’s speech, the Telegraph published an article revealing the Islamic Forum of Europe’s infiltration into Britain’s governing Labour party, especially in the East London, Tower Hamlets council. Much of the information had been supplied by Jim Fitzpatrick, Britain’s Environment Minister. The “bold” and “radical” Conservative party has yet to seize on this golden opportunity to scoop up a huge number of votes, nor is it likely to.

There have been brief moments the last few years when Cameron has shone. Certainly his observation that far-Left London mayor, Ken Livingstone, had used ethnic minorities as “potential agents of revolutionary change,” was one of them. The statement might easily have been applied to the British Left almost in its entirety. It might well sum up the New Labour era. But it also now sums up the Cameron “revolution.” He too has decided to use minorities in general, and Muslims in particular, to irrevocably change his party. It is not that Cameron expects Muslim MPs to do anything differently, but that he recognizes that the liberal press will only regard the party as “modern” (cosmopolitan, anti-racist, and skeptical about war, the US, and Israel) if it includes a few prominent Muslim faces. He also believes that this will aid community cohesion, illustrating that there are no barriers for minorities in modern Britain.

“[I]f we win that general election,” Cameron said in his Spring Conference speech, “instead of 18 women MPs on the Conservative side, there will be more than 60 [as well as] black and minority ethnic candidates, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, right across our country. Not in Labour seats, not in marginal seats, but in safe Conservative seats.”

In private, Cameron’s assessment has a different accent. He credits the party’s Conservative Muslim Forum for aiding the process of modernization. The CMF, he told an audience at the organization’s 2009 Eid celebration [video], “has done great things for the Conservative party, helping us to reach out to people who had not been interested in the Conservative party before.” The CMF has been instrumental in its “opening up.”

For Cameron, as for the Left, Muslims in particular have been unfairly disadvantaged by Britain. An integrated society has to have more Muslims who are prominent in business, in the armed forces, [video] “and, of course, more Muslims in our parliament […] British Muslim all across government, in positions of leadership and authority.”

There is nothing wrong with having more Muslims in parliament, but the kind of social engineering articulated by Cameron, and the implicit idea that Muslims have been oppressed, rather than welcomed, by the nation, is precisely what made Labour so vulnerable to infiltration by Islamists. Will this new Leftwing “progressive Conservative” party prove any more resilient, or any more able to tell the moderate and reformist from the “radical” Muslim?

Until late 2008, the CMF linked its website to Ta-Ha publishing, the latter of which has published two books by former IFE president Muhammad Abdul Bari. Even if there are no IFE members in the Conservative party, ideas matter. Political correctness and political multiculturalism are gifts to the extremists, as Britain – excluding the majority of MPs – has learned to its cost. Ordinary British Muslims are the first victims of the extremists, as the Channel 4 Dispatches [video] program on IFE infiltration showed: One woman, who had set up a Muslim dating agency, was threatened, as were Bengali Muslims for celebrating a cultural festival with music, dance, and the free mixing of men and women.

“Entryism” runs deep. Fitzpatrick’s revelations follow a recent report by the Tel-Aviv-based Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, which found that “[f]or more than a decade, Britain (especially London) has been a focus for Hamas’ political, propaganda and even legal activities in Europe.” Islamist “entryists” are known to have penetrated into Ken Livingstone’s mayoral office (with the aim of advancing Hamas’s agenda), and into the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, among others.

The three major political parties all seems to have embraced Islamists, as have some of the smaller parties.

The Labour government has given the impression of almost being in league with the extremists — financing dubious organizations in order to prevent extremism, and employing radicals as advisers.

The IFE helped to get George Galloway elected. And, in 2005, his (Leftist-Islamist) Respect party was financed by Dr Mohammed Naseem. Peculiarly, Naseem stood as a Respect candidate, even though he was then a board member of the little-known Islamic Party of Britain, which advocated the death penalty for “public acts of lewdness,” and whose leader, David Pidcock, promoted the notion of a worldwide “Zionist” plot against Islam.

Liberal Democrats MP Baroness Jenny Tonge, met with Hamas and other Palestinian parties last year, and, since then, has accused Israel of harvesting organs from Haiti.

From calling for executions for “lewdness” to blood libels, the more “modern” Britain becomes the more medieval it appears – although that is certainly “bold” and “radical.”

While the major parties are ignoring the issue of political Islam in Britain, however, the subject was thrust into the media spotlight in mid January, when the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) called for a ban on wearing the burka in public. The issue is far less controversial among the general public than it is among the major parties. According to one poll, 70 percent want to ban the burka in public, with nearly 80 percent wanting it banned at airports. Similar enthusiasm can be found among the public for curbing immigration – another election unmentionable.

A few weeks after the party announced its proposed burka ban, and in response to it, UKIP MEP Gerard Batten received two threatening emails from within the IFE-infiltrated Tower Hamlets council. In the emails, UKIP was accused of trying to “stoke a religious war on the streets of Britain,” and Batten was also told that “Islam is the dominant religion in the United Kingdom. If you don’t like it, go live somewhere else.”

With the transformation of the Conservatives into a virtual carbon copy of the much-hated Labour party, there have been several defections, from the former, to UKIP, in recent months alone, although not apparently because of the issue of Islamism. One of the more noteworthy defections is James Pryor, a former advisor to Margaret Thatcher, who will run UKIP’s election campaign.

Political Islam is a new issue for UKIP, which has broadened its platform under Lord Pearson, who replaced Nigel Farage in late 2009. The party that has become synonymous with protesting against Islam, however, is the British National Party (BNP). It has campaigned as the party of the White working class (the party only voted to accept ethnic minorities as members in February, after it was threatened with a court injunction by the by the Equality and Human Rights Commission), and has succeeded in scooping up the disaffected Labour vote in particular. The BNP won its first two seats in the EU elections last year, while UKIP – which has traditionally campaigned to withdraw the UK from the EU – won 13 (up one).

These parties are each hoping to get at least a few seats in the UK parliament, with the upcoming election. Although this would be a breakthrough for either party, the Labour and the Conservatives are concerned. Lord Tebbit even openly worried recently that traditionalist Conservative voters might “defect to UKIP in the same way a lot of old Labour voters defected to the BNP.”

Even though only a small number of seats are likely to fall to UKIP or the BNP, these parties are undoubtedly already looking to the following election, perhaps five years away, when, with even one or two seats in parliament, they would have far greater electoral credibility.

Talk of radicalism is cheap. With the Conservative party having now having fully embraced the same old political correctness, political multiculturalism, and “positive discrimination,” the electorate may well be as disillusioned and angry with it in a few years, as it is now with Labour — and for similar reasons.

What kind of “radical” change might then occur?

A. Millar is the British correspondent for The Brussels Journal (http://www.brusselsjournal.com/), “the voice of conservatism in Europe.” He has spent most of his life in the UK and the USA, and describes his political outlook as “neoconservative.”

By BRYAN BJORNSON

In politics the answers to important questions rarely can be answered either yes or no. Compromise in the world of politics is important, often distasteful, but important. Yet there are times when compromise is not only distasteful but wrong. Are we in such a time? Yes! On some issues there can be no compromise, there is but one option and that is to stand for what you believe in. What are the issues on which the Republicans should refuse to compromise? Why, on these issues, is compromise wrong? Let us take a look at the issues on which there should be no compromise.

Health Care

The response of the Republican Party to any and all ideas or plans for our government providing health care to anyone other than a Federal employee or a veteran should be a flat out unequivocal NO. Why should the Republican Party say no? For the simple reason that for our Federal government to provide health care for every American citizen makes as much sense it would for it to provide auto insurance for every driver. The Federal employees could probably find their own health care at a better price than what our government pays. What business is it of our government if someone does or does not have health care? In response to this Democrats will say that there are 46 million people without health care. This number suggests that to not have health care is a problem. That for our government not to provide is to be cruel and lacking in compassion. Then to play on our sympathies, they will bring forth someone who is struggling with financial difficulties due to a serious medical problem. This is done with the idea all of the 46 million without health care are all in financial difficulty solely because they don’t have health care. It makes it look like there is a health care crisis when there isn’t one. It makes the so called health care crisis one that the American taxpayer must pay for.

Why should the American taxpayer pay for the health care of illegal aliens? They are 9.7 million of those without health care. Why should the American taxpayer pay for the health care of those making over $50,000 a year? That is 17.6 million of those without health care. Why should the American taxpayer pay for the health care of those under 34? They are 18.3 million of those with out health care. Add those numbers up and that is 45.6 the 46 million who are without health care. So the claim that there are 46 million Americans without health care is not an entirely accurate statement. That 400,000 Americans are without health care is hardly a crisis by any stretch of the imagination.

Cap and Trade

This is nothing more than a tax on businesses in the energy industry. Its primary effect will be higher prices for the energy needed to run all of the businesses and homes in our country. The push for this is to stop global warming/climate change. Why has a problem that supposedly endangers our ability to survive, the problem of global warming, is now called global climate change? To call it global climate change means that our planet is not warming because of the use CO² has not created the dreaded greenhouse effect of trapping heat in the earth’s atmosphere. Our planet is now either cooling or the predicted global warming has stopped. However to turn around and try to claim that the use of CO² is now causing global cooling is something that Democrats know would destroy their credibility. To maintain their credibility the problem is now global climate change. Global climate change has been going on ever since our planet was formed. It is not a man made problem! Global warming/climate change is an idea held by some but not all members of the baby boomer generation that their mortality is somehow connected to the destruction of our planet. This selfish generation, of which I am a member, is so arrogant, so conceited that it thinks it has the power to either save or destroy the world. In their selfish attempts to “save” our planet these baby boomers want to destroy the economy that gave them the great life that they have. The only thing man made about the global warming/climate change crisis is the idea that there is a crisis. Global climate change is as natural as the weather.

The Economy

This is where the necessary evil of government is especially dangerous! While there is a need for government regulations they must be written with care and should end after five years. If there is a need for them to continue they must be reintroduced and passed as brand new laws. This is because government regulations are a hidden method of taxing businesses. Regulations increase the cost for a business to provide their goods and services. That cost is passed onto the consumers of those goods and services. There are also hidden costs for starting a new business with an increase in government regulations. Those costs are the increased amount of funding needed and difficulty of raising more money to start a new business. When the cost of starting a new business is too high then we the consumers lose out. We lose out because a new product isn’t available. We lose out because jobs are not created. We lose out because established businesses have less competition. Less competition equals higher prices. But our biggest loss is when our economy doesn’t grow because someone couldn’t get their new business started.

How Saying No Is Actually Saying Yes

As President Ronald Reagan said in his first inaugural address “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” Then if government is the problem the solution is to reduce the size of our government! When the Republicans in Congress says no to these proposals to increase the size of our government they are saying yes to the limited Constitutional government our Founding Fathers created. Our Founding Fathers wrote our Constitution not to create a government that will solve everyones problems. They wrote our Constitution to prevent our government from becoming the tyrannical government they had just fought a revolution to get rid of! These three issues are just but a small part of the ways the Democrats, who now control Congress, want to make our government the type of government our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to get rid of. Is it too much to ask the Republicans in Congress to take the non-life threatening political risk to vote against bills that would prevent our government from becoming what our Founding Fathers fought against?

Bryan Björnson is a self-confessed right-wing revolutionary.

Researching the national political scene could become depressing in an era when Progressives dedicated to fundamentally transforming America hold almost total control of the media and the government, especially when they’re working hard to turn a recession into a depression. However, the Obama drama is like watching a slow-motion train wreck, if not inspiring at least it’s entertaining. Daily we’re assaulted by a Washington elite dedicated to proving Saturday Night Live never went far enough into satire to capture the nonsensical folly of our elected leaders.

Hourly our intelligence is insulted by people telling us they want to spend more money to lower the deficit and balance the budget as the deficit climbs higher and faster than ever before, and the national debt careens past satire into the theater of the absurd. Minute by minute we’re assaulted by news such as the self admitted Communist who was purged from the White House in the middle of the night is now an American Treasure. Or that the President’s long time pastor and mentor Rev. Wright recently honored Minister Louis Farrakhan the leader of the Nation of Islam with the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer award. Is that the last trumpet I hear?

Suffice it to say the national scene in America today appears determined to prove one of Mark Twain’s less repeated quotes, “Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.”

Watching our leaders act as if Dilbert comic strips are their leadership manual it’s hard not to keep at least one eye out for Curley, Larry and Moe to dance in hitting each other with rubber hammers and spraying seltzer all over the place. Oh wait a minute that’s Pelosi, Reid and Rohm Emmanuel. If it wasn’t so tragic it’d be laughable to think these Chicago ward healers and their Progressive front men really believed they’d get away with hijacking a nation like it was a semi filled with flat screen TVs.

Concentrating on this every day could become depressing, but I realized long ago not to take it too seriously it all perishes with the using and it’s the things that won’t that are important. Besides, I look to my local government for a more realistic notion of how America is doing. The leaders I see are actually struggling to come to grips with the dire economic times we face. They aren’t charging it to the kids, taxing the citizens into poverty or begging for handouts from bloated state and federal governments. They’re making the hard, unpopular choices, cutting this and limiting that in order to maintain a balanced budget. Yes it’s hard work. Yes, it’s likely to lead to some of them not being re-elected. And yes, it’s what they volunteered for and what we chose them for.

In some areas this picture won’t match reality. In some places such as California, Illinois, Harrisburg, PA, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Los Angeles the Progressives who’ve controlled these places for generations desperately try to find new ways to plunder their citizens as they contemplate bankruptcy. However, no matter how the remaining proponents of ever expanding entitlements and pork barrel budgets try to prop up their house of cards there are daily more citizens who get it. Not one to profusely quote President Clinton I’m happy to recommend that we all repeat together, “The era of big government is over.” Our elected officials need to get it instead of following the lemmings over the cliff.

Yes this could get depressing but I believe in American Exceptionalism and a can do attitude. I believe that our history and our future have been and will be defined by our devotion to limited government and the liberty and opportunity this provides.

Throughout our history when the days looked the darkest Americans braved the icy Delaware to surprise the overconfident mercenaries. We surrounded the largest army of the greatest empire on earth at Yorktown and birthed freedom from oppression. After the professional soldiers of the former masters came in like a flood chasing the representatives of the people and burned our new capital we met them again on the way to New Orleans and handed them the greatest defeat their arms had ever suffered. When the dispute over slavery finally ruptured the wound which had festered since independence and other nations thought we would devour ourselves in a nightmare of blood and steel we rose from the ashes, re-united and became the greatest industrial power the world has ever known. When the Nazi and Fascists of the twentieth century thought they would rule for a thousand years America led the rest of the world in defeating them. When the Soviets and other Communists sought to crush freedom under their collective heel the United States held high the beacon of freedom.

No matter how out of fashion it may be with the media or the liberal establishment, I believe in American Exceptionalism and the can do attitude of the American people. No matter how hard our progressive leaders try to grow our traditionally limited government into a cradle-to-grave welfare state, I do not believe they’ll succeed in suffocating the light of liberty which burns bright in the breast of America. And since I’m quoting presidents today, I want to end with President Ronald Reagan who told us, “A troubled and afflicted mankind looks to us, pleading for us to keep our rendezvous with destiny; that we will uphold the principles of self-reliance, self-discipline, morality, and, above all, responsible liberty for every individual that we will become that shining city on a hill.”

We all know they exist. They get on TV. They get famous. And we even elect some of them to high office. RightBias.com is proud to present its Top Idiots of the Week Awards.

WINNERS:

A Korean couple has earned the top spot in our Deadly Idiots category. They were so busy raising a virtual baby online, that they let their own baby starve to death.

RUNNER-UP:
The University of Tennessee at Knoxville comes in a close second. This bastion of higher education has decided to award disgraced global warming alarmist Al Gore with an honorary degree.

Adding insult to injury, they opined, “Vice President Gore’s career has been marked by visionary leadership, and his work has quite literally changed our planet for the better.” No specifics were given.

HONORABLE MENTION:

Northwestern University has, incredibly, invited disgraced former Gov. Blagojevich to lecture their students on ethics. “Ethics in Politics: An evening with Former Governor Rod Blagojevich” I kid you not.

Everybody’s favorite useful idiot, Sean Penn, has unloaded on critics of his recent mercy mission to Haiti. Penn hopes they all die of rectal cancer.

People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals once again makes our list. PETA has called for Knut the polar bear, who shot to global stardom as a cub in 2007, to be castrated to avoid incest with his cousin.

A deputy sheriff in Tennessee accidentally locked himself in a jail cell. His solution? He tried to shoot his way out. Fortunately his superiors relieved him of duty.

MOST IDIOTIC STATEMENTS:

In a week chock full of idiotic statements, Nancy Pelosi takes the cake. As four fellow Dems bit the dust for ethics violations, she stated with a straight face, that she is running the most ethical Congress in history. Duh…

Al Gore: “I, for one, genuinely wish that the climate crisis were an illusion.” If you believe that, there is a job awaiting you in the Obama administration.

JUST PLAIN STUPID:

An airline passenger ate his £8,930 winning scratch card after he was told he could not claim the money immediately. That’ll show ‘em.

The American Psychiatric Assn. has proposed that out-of-control sexual appetites be included as a diagnosis in the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. How cool is that? With a stroke of a pen, acting like a slut will no longer be your fault.

No word yet if this new disorder will be covered under Obama’s health bill. Sigh.

DANGEROUS IDIOTS:

A drunken driver who was otherwise engaged in sexual activity with a woman in his truck plowed into a couple’s home Sunday morning. Oops.

Showing that idiocy is gender neutral, a 37 year-old woman in Florida caused a two-vehicle crash when she had her husband take the wheel from the passenger seat as she shaved her nether region.

Sen. John Kerry called on the FDA to abolish a “discriminatory” law that bars homosexual men in the U.S. from donating blood, saying “not a single piece of scientific evidence supports the ban.” Hey John, can you spell AIDS?
So many idiots, so little space…

‘Til next week, keep your powder dry and don’t believe everything they tell you.

By LARRY WILKE

Today, the Marxist mountebank placed the icing upon the collectivist cake as he put on yet another sophomoric show for the moronic media. In “Obama seeks to push healthcare to final vote” (Reuters) we read that Obama was “flanked by white-coated doctors and nurses.” I am guessing that they had conveniently stowed their butterfly nets prior to taking the stage as the Obama insanity has reached a fever pitch.

Obama said, “it is time to pass” his healthcare overhaul. This will be the political equivalent of “passing” a gallstone the size of a basketball for the liberals, and it will be the economic same for the middle class. The method matters not to Obama, he is just concerned with what the “method” is being called. He said that it was absolutely all right to use “only a slim Democratic majority in Congress if necessary.” This is called “reconciliation” once formerly used to trim budget deficits, with the Obama liberal logic, it is now going to be used to DOUBLE the already enormous Obama deficit. The destructive “deficits” relative to this fascist fiasco are just the tip of the iceberg.

The liberal habit of “language softening” once again comes into play as the leftists, led by their Dear Leader are now calling reconciliation, “using a slim Democratic majority if necessary.” When the carpet was pulled from under the liberal lies surrounding “global warming” it transformed into “climate change.” Those not burdened by the undertow of their intellectual liberal lethargy prefer to call a spade a spade when it comes to the fellow travelers. The article even pointed out that “Obama did not use the word reconciliation.” Regardless of what Obama chooses to call this today or tomorrow, the rest of us knew exactly what it was yesterday.

The issue is “too important to be delayed by politics after a year of debate” said the solemn socialist. Where to begin?

The issue IS “too important” to be handled in such a cavalier manner. This “political maneuver” is “kind-of” permanent and though not completely un-reversible, the incoming Republican “superdupermajority” will have to spend a lot of time undoing the reckless spending of the intentionally destructive liberals. This “delayed by politics” gibberish is Obama’s kind way of saying that the public’s overwhelming opinion against his totalitarian takeover DOES NOT MATTER. He is saying that the Republican requests for a proper process DOES NOT MATTER. “Politics” can also be called the “Democratic process” (“democratic” as in democracy, not the latest incarnation of Democrats.) and this is the first thing that a socialist wants to marginalize and then eliminate when they are going about centralizing government. A “year of debate”? “Debate” between whom? Until Scott Brown came along, the only “debate” around this health scare bill was whether the Democrats preferred cash or checks for the guarantee of their “votes.”

“The American people are waiting for the administration to lead.” Obama is so generous when spreading out this bad news that he can’t admit that HE is the one doing this “leading.” While he is at it, he should mention that the fellow Democrats who sign on to this Democratic decapitation are all “leading” on this one too. Obama may have forgotten to mention it, the American public will not forget it for years to come. Or should I say that they had better not.

Now the Democrats feel that they need to “rush” this along. In their convoluted minds, doing so will buy them months and months worth of time as they can create scads of diversions effectively taking health scare out of the headlines before the midterm election. Nothing relative to this nonsense will be enacted prior to the midterm election and possibly not until AFTER the election of 2012, so the immediate negative economic impact is conveniently delayed. During campaign season, Obama and the liberals will claim that they have “reformed” health care, the bottom feeders will buy it and the rest of America will then be paying for it once the votes are tabulated.

They could have done this last year but there was too much confusion as to the bribes, the payoffs and the pork and their “proper” redistribution to cagey and coquettish liberals. “Time” is actually irrelevant because this could have been “done” all the way back on January 21st of last year and that would not matter, the American public WILL NOT FORGET the subversion of the former “democratic process” which has been replaced with the “New and Improved Democrat’s process” featuring bribes, waste and subterfuge when November rolls around.

Even the idiotic Democrats have known that this bill was progressive poison right from the get-go. Were this not the case, they would have found a not so unsavory way of passing this barnacle encrusted bill while they were in full possession of a “supermajority.” They completely locked the Republicans and the media out of the process but everything bogged down due to the insipid liberal internal greed and bickering. After months of clumsy and embarrassing revelations about their “status quo” back-room dealing and their progressive payoffs, they are left with reconciliation as their only option for advancing this scam and then properly penalizing the public.

“Everything there is to say about health care has been said and just about everyone has said it.” Apparently Obama’s prodigious ears have “heard” all of this that everyone has “said,” yet by “moving forward” he is proving that he just wasn’t listening. “Now is the time to make a decision.” That is right. It is time for a “decision” by those who were once hoodwinked by the Illinois Othello that this will never happen again.

Obama says he wants to “regulate” the insurance industry. No, this is another “takeover” not unlike the former capitalist enterprises known as General Motors and Chrysler. This is about total control of as many elements of the lives of formerly free Americans as they can possibly get away with before they are removed from office. Why, so that “millions of middle class families can get insurance.” Another BIG LIE. This is to further cushion the liberal base of moochers and derelicts, the “middle class” will be the ones paying for it.

“For us to start over now could simply lead to delay that could last for another decade or even more.” What is going to last a “decade or more” will be the attempts of the Republican supermajority to undo this Marxist mess before the middle class, which empowers this once great nation, collapses from exhaustion. Obama said that the “United States Congress owes the American people” when it comes to health care reform. No, not quite. After Obama gets finished, the “American people” will OWE the United States Congress and they will be paying for generations to come.

Abortion funding, death panels, a budget-busting size, coverage for illegal aliens, Medicare cuts for the elderly, copious tax increases for the middle class and an enormous increase in the role of government in health care. “I don’t see how another year (actual time: sixty minutes.) of negotiations would help.” Wow, Obama is not only deaf but he is also blind.

Billy Bob Clinton even wanted to use the last-ditch effort of reconciliation in order to sneak “Hillarycare” through. He was rewarded with a Republican Congress, which then immediately went about turning the career liberal “centrist,” and the Contract With America soon took the nation by storm. This needs to happen again so that the Obama “Contract ON America” can be eliminated.

According to the article, “using reconciliation to pass the final healthcare bill would be a two-step process.” Once this “two-step process” is undertaken by the liberal lunatics, the midterm election will be a “two-step process” as well. Step One: Enter the voting booth. Step Two: Vote Republican.

Editor’s Note: Unconventional Wisdom is a new series designed to unravel the misleading “conventional wisdom” of our times. In this edition, the Clinton Surplus Myth is examined by the numbers.

Everyone is aware of the perception that the Clinton years were a golden age of fiscal management and economic genius. First, let it be said that there was indeed an impressive period of surplus revenues during the Clinton years, especially in light of recent American history since the Great Depression and the New Deal. However, the entire set of numbers show a more complete picture and put the surpluses in their proper perspective.

Without further ado, here are the statistics (in millions because the numbers are so outrageously large):

Year Receipts Expenditures Deficit/Surplus

1993 1,154,341 1,409,392 -255,051

1994 1,258,579 1,461,766 -203,186

1995 1,351,801 1,515,753 -163,952

1996 1,453,055 1,560,486 -107,431

1997 1,579,240 1,601,124 -21,884

1998 1,721,733 1,652,463 69,270

1999 1,827,459 1,701,849 125,610

2000 2,025,198 1,788,957 236,241

Patterns emerge rather quickly. At the top of the list is the government’s income. In 1993 Uncle Sam raked in $1.1 trillion, but by 2000 his wallet was much fatter, to the tune of $2 trillion. If ever there were an occasion to run a surplus, that would be the time. To his administration’s credit, this was something that not even the uber-miserly (conventional wisdom again) Ronald Reagan could not duplicate on his watch when the federal budget also doubled.

Another pattern worth noticing is that there were very few “tough choices” to be made during this period. Congress continued to approve ever-larger budgets, despite the Contract with America and the government shutdown, from which Clinton emerged as the hero who wasn’t going to let Gingrich get away with “draconian” revisions to the budget. There were micro cuts in particular areas such as four rounds of military base closings and an overall reduction of military strength by about one third in a continuation of the George H.W. Bush peace dividend. Likewise, Clinton finally signed Welfare Reform into law after twice vetoing it.

Yet there was no cut in federal spending. All that those reforms accomplished was to provide avenues for public sector growth in other areas. New programs mean new opportunities to buy friends and influence people.

The third and most important pattern to consider is the overall deficit total. To find this number requires only one mathematical function—addition. The total is -$320,383,000,000.00. Granted the number is small compared to Obama’s or Bush’s Weimar Republicanism, but nevertheless, the font is red because that’s how much in the red the nation went during the quite gilded age of Clintonomics.

FAIRFIELD EDWARDS is a traditionalist by day and traditionalist by night who believes in the institutions and noble history of our nation. He is but a single champion of the righteous against the self-righteous and a champion of the wronged against those who seek to do wrong. He is the editor of www.allrightmagazine.com.
