We Hired ‘Em. My Fellow Patriots, We Can Fire ‘Em!

conventionBy JAYNEE GERMOND

We are in an era in which must of the country is frightened and afraid to read the news, but afraid not to. The main stream media would have us believe that we are a few insignificant number; too small to obtain a goal. We are ridiculed and scorned and belittled. There are those who become discouraged by the figures presented and the mass media’s denouncement of our efforts. The members of the extreme left push us aside like scraps of trash while they focus on their agendas.

This, patriots, is what we are here to talk about today, focusing on our agendas. After church last Sunday, a friend asked how the campaign was going. I gave him a brief update and he said, “We need people like you in DC.” I told him that we needn’t despair over what is happening in our country; we must be cross-eyed! Yes, I said ‘cross-eyed’ as in keeping our eyes on the cross.

The Gathering Storm

gatheringstorm

By RICK BURRES

When the storm finally hits (and it will), those of you who supported the Obama administration will be affected as well. It won’t just be us gun owners or Flat Taxers, or Pro-Lifers that get hit. You’ll be right there next to us.

You see, you all thought the Conservatives were nut cases. You know, all of us who believe in God, small government, the Second Amendment, etc. And you thought you could just go back to sleep after the election was over. In your world, America will continue as before. You’ll still have the same rights, the same nice house, the same big screen television – it’s all good. After all, your high school football team won and the other team lost – go team! Even if you have bothered to look up from the daily grind since Nov 4th, you dismissed everything that has occurred as “politics as usual” – “the same old stuff”.

In the end, it’ll all be OK, won’t it?

Who Are The Barbarians?

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

wheninromeBy Dr. ROBERT OWENS

The comparisons between Rome and America are legion.  Recently I listened to a Bible scholar declare that Revelation Chapter 18 which has traditionally been associated with a veiled prophecy of the fall of Rome is in reality a direct reference to the fall of America.  Google “Compare Rome and America” and it reveals a cottage industry dedicated to perpetuating or debunking the premise.  Every segment of American society, the church, education, business, Hollywood and main street have been warned that the enemy is within the gates paraphrasing a Roman, Marcus Tullius Cicero who said, “The enemy is within the gates; it is with our own luxury, our own folly, our own criminality that we have to contend.”

Most of us have a picture of the fall of Rome shaped by Hollywood and encouraged by the fact that even a well-rounded education today covers the first 6,500 years of Western Civilization in one semester.  The words, “Fall of Rome” conjure up visions of oafish men the size of pro-wrestlers dressed in skins with horned helmets bursting through the gates and ravaging the effeminate Romans and their buxom women.  The truth is by the time Rome “fell” hardly anyone noticed, and few cared.  The Barbarians had been running the place, manning the frontier and managing the government for so long when they finally decided they didn’t need a powerless Roman Emperor for a front man anymore it probably seemed like honesty in government to proclaim Odoacer King of Italy.

Taking the Pulse of the Nation

pulseBy Dr. ROBERT OWENS

Sitting in a cabin on the edge of a lake in the middle of the woods with the woman I love.  The open windows bring a gentle breeze cooling the pleasant knotty-pine paneled room.  The sounds of birds provide a soundtrack to my thoughts.  Governments may fall and economies may stumble, but everyone needs some time aside to gather their thoughts.

Each year the best wife in the world and the man lucky enough to be her husband take a road trip.  Seeing our grandchildren and other assorted friends and family provides the spine upon which we construct our adventure.  In this day of stratospheric gas prices and uncertain employment we’re blessed with online professions so where others take stay-cations we take work-cations.  As long as we can plug into the world-wide-web, we’re good to go.  Taking a break from community involvement, shuttering the compound we load up the minivan and hit the road taking the pulse of America.  While interstate highways provide wonderful get-me-there-quick travel avoiding the hassle of airport security and waiting on the tarmac they tend to look and feel the same.  We prefer the back roads where we can see the sights, smell the roses and meet the people.

Turning strangers into acquaintances by reaching out with friendly chatter it’s amazing where the conversations go.  From, “Wasn’t that a big storm last night” to “My grandkids are cuter than yours,” to “What-in-the-world is happening to our country.”  Small talk breaks like a wave against the cliffs of our current national transformation.  From coast-to-coast and border-to-border Americans of every age, every race and every condition are waking up to the fact the America we’ve known is being submerged under progressivism’s long-sought, centrally-planned, government-owned, collectivist state.

Three Celebrity Deaths and What it Means

prophets

By Rev. MICHAEL BRESCIANI

This week in America three celebrities passed away without warning. Reviews on the life of pop culture icon Michael Jackson was at the top of most news programs along with some questions about the manner of his death. Does our penchant for this kind of story indicate anything about our national state of mind?

While we reel from the loss of our celebrities and pop icons a Washington based organization known as the TVC (Traditional Values Coalition) is fighting almost a lone battle against the passage of a hate crimes bill that could effectively protect a pedophile but punish a preacher. Finding news about that organizations fight would be very hard to do in the mainstream media. The interest in one story over the other is proof positive that the entire direction and purpose of the nation has changed.

Obama at Notre Dame: It’s About Lives not Opinions

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

notredameBy Rev. MICHAEL BRESCIANI

The administrators at Notre Dame had it in mind to foster tolerance and diversity with those of differing opinions. Among the graduating class a few students had Obama’s circle logo pasted on their caps leaving no doubt what was in their minds:

Outside in protest chanting, Benedict’s flock

No you can’t, no you can’t

Inside Obama’s friends chant and mock

Yes we can, yes we can

Wisdom’s answer notwithstanding only common sense need answer the mockery that was the appearance, the address and the awarding of an honorary degree to Barack Obama. Under the banner of bringing a new voice of liberalism to university has anyone sat down and done the math?

What Ever Happened to Dignity: The Itching of America

dome

By Rev. MICHAEL BRESCIANI

How inspired is the race in the Congress to protect all the sexual orientations that have emerged of late. Are they really threatened? Shouldn’t someone tell the Congress that most Americans have not even heard of most of them yet?

Depending on who is breaking down the list the news is reporting between 30 and 50 distinctive sexual behaviors that are to be protected under the newly proposed Hate Crimes Bill H.R. 1913. Have we gone from the moral majority to the immoral majority all in about a mere thirty years? What Happened?

One of the definitions for prurient is “an itching” which is to say that anyone who is constantly aroused by some new and shifting sexual interest has got an itch. As a nation it would seem that our enemy has flown over undetected at some extreme altitude and sprinkled the country with a strong dose of the proverbial itching powder.

The first question that begs to be answered is not what is on the list but why the Congress is even looking at it. Does arriving at ‘super power’ status automatically give us the free time and clear path to get down into the finer details of our nationhood that we may have never had time for before? Is there finally a chance to elevate those specifics that heretofore were suppressed by world wars, the democracy experiment and holding ourselves up as an example to the rest of the world?

Can America Recover?: The Surprising Answer

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

grandkidsBy MIKE FOSTER

I was born in the 1940s, and over the years I have grown to know some things about my country. I have seen the quality of its leadership slowly deteriorate over the years. Many of our freedoms trodden in the dust, small business impossible to create and grow, and the American dream resembling more of a nightmare. Americans have become so displaced and burdened with government and the decisions it has made that many have become complacent and prefer not to even participate in the election system, I personally know people who don’t vote yet are vocal about political affairs, but that, in itself a good thing because our will is not completely broken.

Changing America: What’s the Result?

changeit

By Dr. ROBERT OWENS

That America has changed is without question. No one gets to live in the world they were raised to live in. My father grew up in a house with a dirt floor and no running water. He plowed a field with mules just as his father did and his father and so on. My grandmother never heard of telephones, or airplanes or electricity until after she was 21 and had several children yet I sat next to her in 1969 watching men walk on the moon. My grandfather’s generation was the first in my family that learned to read, my father’s generation was the first to grow up with shoes on, mine was the first that grew up in a city, my son’s was the first to have a computer before they had a car and my grandchildren are the first to grow up in an America that’s the largest debtor on Earth, like Blanche DuBois depending on the kindness of strangers.

Obama Tour: The United States, Christianity and History Insulted

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

                             jesusheart                                By Rev. MICHAEL BRESCIANI

Excited media and political pundits are chomping at the bit to discuss the merits or the failures of President Obama’s worldwide romp through Europe and Muslim countries. Here is one view.

Bowing to the King of a Muslim Nation, Proclaiming America is not a Christian nation while in Turkey and romping through Europe apologizing for arrogant Americans, Obama returns to an insulted and belittled nation. Will we get an apology? Not likely!

Liberal historians and secular academicians in the U.S. may have of late been able to re-write history and plug it to a generation that is graduating from high school with fifth grade reading skills. They have not been allowed to erase the voluminous works of U.S. history archived and protected so far by law. That history defies, denies and decries the lie that America is not a Christian nation.

It is those revered documents that when contrasted to Mr. Obama’s rhetoric in Turkey before the public and President Abdullah Gul that tend to leave a sick feeling in the stomach and a feeling of betrayal in the heart.
