On January 20, 1961, newly elected president John F. Kennedy implored Americans “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
Contrast this with a statement from a progressive I know, “I hate conservatives because Ronald Reagan ended a student loan program that would have let me go to college.” My first two thoughts were: ”Hey, I worked my way through college and you could have too!” Secondly, I thought “Ronald Reagan didn’t do this to you specifically. Trust me, he didn’t say “I’m going to screw this guy out of his college for some hateful conservative reason.”
This reminded me of the notion of “self-interest.” Please don’t confuse self-interest with selfishness. They are different. All of us operate off of self-interest; the self-interest to succeed, stay alive, see our families thrive. However, unhealthy self-interest is most closely aligned with selfishness. I submit that anyone, of any political affiliation, that votes for a candidate or party because of what that candidate or party can do for them should be cautious.

When Democrats passed ObamaCare in March, polls showed that the majority of Americans opposed it. Supporters of the bill at the time dismissed these polls and hoped that over time Americans would support the monstrous health care legislation.
New polls show that opposition to ObamaCare continues to be stong. The latest Rasmussen poll of likely voters finds that 58 percent want ObamaCare repealed while 35 percent oppose repeal.
The stability of this opposition makes it likely that repeal of ObamaCare will continue to be a winning issue in the November 2010 elections and Republicans should continue to emphasize their support for repeal.

“It’s just going to be like Christmas. It’s going to be great. You know, no worries about the bills.” This was the cathartic cry of one DeCarlo Flythe, yet another of the fifties of millions of new beneficiaries of today’s Bolshevik benevolence. What was once a “privilege” has now been “changed” into a “right” through collectivist chicanery and socialist sorcery. This became a “right” based solely upon the totalitarian tenets of “fairness” enabled by sclerotic socialism, not the Constitution of the United States, but these types of annoying details do not matter when you have an “agenda” to impose.

Far more Americans are opposed to the health care bill passed by the Democrats on Sunday night than voted for Obama in 2009. Yet the Democrats, who see themselves as the champions of the people, have decided to ignore their constituency and show it that they alone know what is best while those in Congress and the Senate have happily exempted themselves from participating in Obamacare, a socialist usurpation of American freedom, which they have deemed good enough for the rest of us and for which we should be duly grateful. Thus has government outgrown the consent of the governed, and come November, and again in 2012, they will discover just how grateful we are when we rescue our country and restore the rule of law by voting vast numbers of them out of office.

Not unlike the other unconstitutional intrusions the Obama administration has made into both the middle classes’ life savings and the formerly free market, as yet another last ditch effort, Obamascare will very soon be advertised as “too big to fail.” Judging by all of the liberal bribes, transparent/back door wrangling and the typical Democratic “status quo” and judging by the Obama histrionics, calisthenics and impeachable actions, this totalitarian time bomb has been “too big to fail” since its immaculate conception/deception. Why it hasn’t been exhibited as such from its inception is as big a mystery to the nation as Obama’s personal provenance.
Since Obama has repeatedly said, “the time for talk is over, it’s time to vote,” (and he has said this in relation to number of topics as well.) the liberals are finally taking this to their Bolshevik black hearts as they are. Wait a minute, hold on a second. Obama is STILL the only one talking about it and now the liberals have decided that they want to up the ante on their “reconciliation” dodge by devising the “Slaughter Solution.” Utilizing this chicanery, the leftists don’t even have to VOTE on the bill! That’s right, no talking, no deliberating and no voting, they just “deem” the bill passed. Presto change-o, it’s now a law, liberal style!

Yesterday afternoon 222 Democrats voted to institute the “Slaughter Rule” of Deem and Pass. This means that as early as Sunday (if the votes are procured) the House of Representatives will be holding a vote on a reconciliation bill that Obama & Pelosi have crafted as a compromise. The final vote should should take place this coming Sunday if the votes are procured.
This reconciliation bill would effectively make changes to the Senate healthcare bill that House Democrats didn’t want to approve. So instead they have created a set of changes that they will vote on (the reconciliation bill) and if that bill passes, then the original Senate healthcare reform bill will be DEEMED TO HAVE BEEN VOTED ON and PASSED: thus the Deem and Pass “Slaughter Rule.”
Anyone who voted for the Slaughter Rule has effectively voted for ObamaCare. Anyone who has voted for any portion of the process that has brought us to passing ObamaCare, has voted for the single largest government takeover of our liberties.

I was listening to Neil Cavuto, who often entertains me with his slightly vitriolic sarcasm about the state of our Union. He tries to delicately balance his anger and disgust with the direction of our country’s finances, with his journalistic integrity to report the facts. While the information is generally disheartening, and sometimes downright depressing, he manages to get a laugh. But it got me thinking about the looming April 15th tax day. We all think we pay too much, but in my broad, general estimation, it’s only going to get worse from here.
I did some research the other day. I found out, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the IRS.gov site, a few interesting and scary facts:

Today, the Marxist mountebank placed the icing upon the collectivist cake as he put on yet another sophomoric show for the moronic media. In “Obama seeks to push healthcare to final vote” (Reuters) we read that Obama was “flanked by white-coated doctors and nurses.” I am guessing that they had conveniently stowed their butterfly nets prior to taking the stage as the Obama insanity has reached a fever pitch.
Obama said, “it is time to pass” his healthcare overhaul. This will be the political equivalent of “passing” a gallstone the size of a basketball for the liberals, and it will be the economic same for the middle class. The method matters not to Obama, he is just concerned with what the “method” is being called. He said that it was absolutely all right to use “only a slim Democratic majority in Congress if necessary.” This is called “reconciliation” once formerly used to trim budget deficits, with the Obama liberal logic, it is now going to be used to DOUBLE the already enormous Obama deficit. The destructive “deficits” relative to this fascist fiasco are just the tip of the iceberg.
