What To Do Now That It’s Been Done

You can’t beat good political drama.  The Nuremberg rallies with all those glistening uniforms and snappy torchlight marches.  The May Day Parades with the Soviet gerontocracy standing on Lenin’s tomb smiling at the grandchildren of the people they tortured riding on their shiny tanks and missile launchers.  Even little North Korea stages some pretty impressive mass birthday parties for the Glorious Midget.  We may disagree with everything these totalitarian nightmare regimes stand for.  We may abhor their gangster tactics and hellish fantasies about conquering the world but you have to give them credit for knowing how to wow the crowd.  They know how to stage a scene and then walk on as the Luke Skywalker of megalomania, wave to the great unwashed return to their castle of doom and continue living life large like Dr. No or in Kim Jong-II’ s case Mini-Me.

The Denver acceptance speech with its Styrofoam Acropolis gave us a hint of the political theater to come.  The Victory speech to the teaming masses in Grant Park let us know the curtain was rising.  Like the Perils of Pauline in a serial of sequels the suspense continues in the never-ending crisis.  We must have health care and we must have it now!  We’re so far in debt we need to spend a massive amount quickly or we’ll go bankrupt.  This is an emergency; there’s no time to read the bill; hurry up and vote.  We need this now even though it won’t be implemented until after the next presidential election.  Hurry up vote!

Sarah Palin made the mistake of being a self-made woman who actually accomplished things in her own right instead of riding her husband’s coattails.  She worked next to her husband founding and managing a small business that continues to flourish.  She was active in local school and community affairs.  She ran for local office serving as a council person and eventually mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.  She took on several positions in the state government. She resigned a high office to battle the insiders who had run the state for years. Elected Governor, she was soon the most popular governor in America.   She accomplished all this without using a family fortune, marrying for money or buying her way into prominence.  She achieved position and influence the old fashioned way; she earned it.

Is This the News or a Comedy Tour?

Everyone routinely called them the Mainstream Media.  Rush now calls them the State Controlled Media.  I’ve called them the Mainstream Media, the Poodle Press, and the Lap-Dog Media.  Whatever you’ve called them, the time’s come to call them irrelevant.  Out with the old and in with the new.

When news organizations consistently slant their coverage and ignore major stories because they don’t fit their template or further their agenda, it’s time to re-evaluate what they are.  They portray themselves as objective yet everyone can see they’re partisan publicists for a particular party and a particular radical left-wing of that party.  Study after study shows the Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media are perceived by the public as advocates whose left-wing agenda is self-serving and deceptive.  Instead of the fourth branch of government, honest brokers working to keep the public informed, they’ve degenerated into craven corporate cheerleaders for Progressivism.

Ever since Walter Cronkite denounced America’s commitment in Vietnam the corporate media have championed increasingly radical left-wing causes.  They first joined the Democrat Party in all but name.  Then they joined the extreme liberal wing of that Party.  Now they’ve joined the Cavalcade of Czars in the statist campaign to re-make America.

Follow the Leaders: Rush, Glenn and Sarah

reagan5By Dr. ROBERT OWENS

As usual it was Rush Limbaugh leading the way.  He was the first political commentator with enough insight and courage to say what so many others were thinking, “I hope he fails.”  If you listen to his program you know that this was immediately and repeatedly expanded to explain that he was referring to the President’s policies.   He even clarified it further by saying, “Hey, I support the president.  I just don’t support his policies.”  He even went so far as to entitle the transcript that refers to these statements, “We Want the President’s Policies to Fail So Everyone Can Succeed.”  Some may still find this shocking; why would anyone hope a brand new president’s policies fail?  The original quote comes from an editorial Rush wrote on the Friday before the inauguration in which he said, “Folks, I do not want what Obama is doing to work.  I don’t want more socialism in America, I don’t want more liberalism.  Liberalism is what’s gotten us to the problems we have now.  Why would I want more of it?  I do not want him to succeed.”  That was way back in January when polls showed that 70% of the American public wanted the new president to succeed.  When many Republican officials eagerly lined up for a few moments of face time to parrot, “I want the president to succeed.”  They were saying the popular thing.  Rush had the courage to swim against the tide and proclaim, “I hope he fails.”

Thank You, Fox News

fox

Thank you, Fox News. Thank you for reporting the news other networks ignore. Thanks for not condescending to the great unwashed by informing us how we should think on a given subject.

Thank you for not adopting the patronizing, elitist attitudes that have become de rigueur on most other networks. Thank you for recognizing that Americans have the right to information from both sides of the aisle and are fully capable of making up their own minds on issues, given enough facts.

Thanks, Fox, for actually questioning the incessant spin coming from Camp Obama. No one else is. If not for your reporting, most Americans would still be unaware of the depth of ‘change’ our president is proposing. Even though the old media succeeded in getting Obama elected, thanks to you, Americans are finally being given access to information they should have had before they voted. Better late than never.

obama1

By EDMOND D. SMITH

Early morning sunlight flashed in Bill’s face, which wrinkled in irritation. He rolled on his back, leaving the worst of the light on his shoulder but too late; the sun had done its job. He was awake. He lay there for another minute or two but finally caved in to the inevitable, threw the heavy blankets aside and sat up, dropping his feet to the floor.

Brr. Freezing. He got up, the chill starting to sink in, and looked at his thermostat. 60 degrees. *SIGH* It was on days like this that he missed being able to set his temperature as he liked it instead of having a federally regulated thermostat set it for him. He knew a couple of tech-savvy guys who had hacked theirs and set it so that they were comfortable. Later they said it was almost worth the huge fine they had to pay and almost worth the public shaming. Almost. Bill had a sneaking admiration for them but realized, of course that carbon crimes were no small matter.

With the economy continuing to hemorrhage jobs, what better way to sit it out then to duck into school for a few years?  And what better way to show your hope for change then to attend a brand new journalism school, funded by “stimulus” dollars?  Then you, too, can be on your way to becoming the next Katie Couric.
